Music Program for Children and Youth

Children and youth receive musical training to learn to play instruments, allowing them to actively participate in their congregation’s worship services. Keyboards, guitars, speakers, microphones, band equipment, music sheets are needed. The project also provides funding for transportation and meals when training is taking place.

Computer Training for Deaconesses and Children

This program and its materials and resources are largely funded and led by a Canadian volunteer, significantly reducing the overall costs. Your support is needed to help the deaconesses and students reach the Chinandega mission centre where they can benefit from the leadership and training being provided.

Missionary Transportation

The majority of pastors in Nicaragua travel by motorcycle to their church, on visits in the community, and back and forth to the mission centre in Chinandega. Two motorcycles are needed for church workers in Central America, each costing about $1700 USD.

Youth Ministry

Since 2015 youth from Nicaragua, Honduras and Costa Rica have met annually at the Mission Centre in Chinandega for a National Youth Gathering. More recently there have also been spin-off regional youth gatherings held in Matagalpa, Jinotega, and Costa Rica. If you are compelled to help the youth continue to meet, and grow in their faith, please support this worthy project.

Deaconess Support

There are currently 34 deaconesses and three assistants (maestras) consecrated for diaconal and educational work in congregations. They conduct the Children’s Education Program in their congregations under the supervision of their local pastors and with coordination from Lutheran Church–Canada. This project is to provide a complementary stipend of approximately $18-$20 per month to assist with transportation and expenses.

Mission Facility in Rivas

Pastor Roque Tijerino travels to Rivas from Granada up to three times a week, continuing the Bible studies, worship services and feeding programs that Pastor Rufino started there. Facility rental is $500 CAD per month.

Support for LCC Missionary Navrotskyy in Nikolaev

A graduate of Concordia Lutheran Seminary, Edmonton, missionary Rev. Oleksiy Navrotskyy is busy with two urban Lutheran congregations and two country mission stations. He is also busy with various humanitarian projects and missions and teaches at the Odessa Seminary. Help him continue this mission and ministry work.

Seminary Program and Operation

Five students are expected to complete their studies at the Odessa Concordia Theological Seminary this year and be placed as vicars. The shared support from LWML-Canada and you helps alleviate the significant cost for stipends, transportation, meals, heating, translating, books and supplies, so that the students can focus and be sent to the field.
