There are currently 34 deaconesses and three assistants (maestras) consecrated for diaconal and educational work in congregations. They conduct the Children’s Education Program in their congregations under the supervision of their local pastors and with coordination from Lutheran Church–Canada. This project is to provide a complimentary stipend of approximately $20 a month to assist with transportation and expenses.
Place for worship in La Pita
A Lutheran Church–Canada (LCC) congregation helped the people of La Pita to gather by purchasing property which LCC missions was able to stabilize with fencing, a kitchen, tarp and latrine. Pastor Rufino has worked hard with the community to submit a budget for the maintenance and expansion on the property needed until a time when a church can be built.
I want to support the congregation in La Pita.

Mission and Ministry in Costa Rica
Due to the high cost of properties there is no venue for worship in Costa Rica. Pastor Edmundo and Deaconess Betty have built an addition on the house to hold services with youth and children. The family has a bookstore in their home, run by their son Diego who also supports services and meetings with his musical ability.
Children’s Education Program in Costa Rica
There are between 20- 25 children attending each of the programs in the two Cartago communities. They have also extended the outreach to include the youth of Cartago. There are monthly worship services led by Missionary Edmundo Retana and his Deaconess wife Betty.
I want to support the children in Costa Rica.

Seminary Program and Operation
Five students are expected to complete their studies at the Odessa Concordia Theological Seminary this year and be placed as vicars. The shared support from LWML-Canada and you helps alleviate the significant cost for stipends, transportation, meals, heating, translating, books and supplies, so that the students can focus and be sent to the field.
Youth Programs
This three-fold project covers program costs and training of new leaders for Vacation Bible School, Summer Camp, and a Winter Youth Gathering.
Pastoral Care in Prison Ministry
The Lord has blessed this ministry of Rev. Alexander Urchenko, and he works with the most dangerous inmates, as well as those who are suicidal. At their release some inmates have reconciled with their families and have returned to visit the prison along with Pastor Urchenko.
I want to support the pastor and his prison ministry in Ukraine.
